The crescent shaped beaches of Kovalam are distinguished in three parts. The southern most part consists of the Light house beach where one can have a view of the spectacular Vizhinzam mosque. The middle one is the Hawah, which acts as the base for the local fisherman. The northernmost beach is the least frequented and is a place to see the wooden fishing vessels
